Collection development policy:
The Lantz Library collects material related to the history of art, architecture, photography, design, sculpture and graphic design. The library does collect resources on specific artists and periods. Materials on the creation of art and art instruction can be found in the University Library’s General Collection. Please see the online catalog for the location of specific titles and fields.
The Library collects resources in a wide variety of diverse formats including: mongraphs, journals, video, slides, catalogs, posters, pamphlets and art objects. The library also collects and maintains electronic resources related to the field of Art History.
The Lantz Library is dedicated to expanding the diversity of its holdings within the established collection areas.
We welcome donations of books, materials and collections under the discretion of the librarians and withhold the right to use all donated resources in the fashion that will best profit the library.
Periodically, the collection will be reviewed for analysis and possible deselection of titles by the librarians and library staff. Deselection is a necessary processes to continuing the vitality and relevancy of the collection.
The original Collection Development Policy was drafted with the creation of the Library in 1995 and is revisited yearly at the annual meeting of Directors, Librarians and Foundation Members.
