About the Library:

The Lantz Art History Library specifically supports the University’s Fine Arts Program, while serving the Art History resource needs of the entire undergraduate and graduate campus. The Lantz Library is a significant resource for several of the University’s Undergraduate Departments, including: Classics, Art & Architecture, History, Religion and Liberal Arts and Humanities. Art History is a diverse discipline involved in the program requirements for 25 Majors at the University. At the Graduate level, the Lantz Library supports the Masters of Fine Arts as well as other Masters and PHD programs.

The Lantz Art History Library is located in downtown Chicago on University Campus. The library is on the Sixth Floor of the Main Library Building. For directions please see the Library’s homepage. LantzLibrary.uc.edu

The library was founded in 1995 by a generous donation from the Lantz family as a place for students, faculty and community members to research the history and execution of the creative process. The library houses the University’s Art History Collection, the Lantz Collection on the history of Sand Art, and numerous other archives and research materials.

The library consists of over 45,000 volumes, hundreds of videos and dvds and an extensive poster and pamphlet collection. The library subscribes to 100 Art History and art related journals and accesses 12 major electronic databases. Currently a project to digitalize part of the library’s collections is underway. We hope to have our Digital Library up and running in Fall 2008. For more information on the History of the Lantz Art History Library please see the Library’s homepage.
